Is there any reason to come to Denmark for camping? For the cyclist, the country is a wonderland of backroads and small villages, the perfect places to camp, of course. Bring your mobile home, your campervan or your tent, and you will find many places to stay for very reasonable overnight rates.
Denmark is a small peninsula rather cut off from the rest of Europe by Germany, but Denmark has a flavour all of its own. It is neither German, nor Scandinavian. Its capital, Copenhagen, is one of the most interesting cities of northern Europe and a new bridge links it easily to Sweden. The towns of Aarhus and the isolated coastline of the north are just two treasures that have long inspired Danish writers.
Denmark does have some natural areas, but it’s a more intimate experience meeting fellow campers here. And don’t forget Greenland’s vast ice sheet and wilderness zones are also part of Denmark; camping here in summer is sure to be an eye-opener. For centuries the Danes were feared as seafarers and heroic fighters, but today the gentle welcoming nature of the people makes an immediate impact. Despite its famous cheese, Danish Blue, you won’t get any other blues in Denmark! A camper visiting Denmark is assured of a pleasant and exciting time.
