Camping was the way of life in Canada for the first settlers, so it is not surprising that camping here has remained the favourite pastime of families, friends, explorers and nature lovers. Canada is big, and so is the welcome that Canadians will give everyone, campers included, who ventures to see its wealth of attractions.
From the forests of Quebec, across the prairies of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, to the glaciers of the Rocky Mountains, Canada has it all for camping. Those who choose to hike away from roads into the backcountry must beware! Remember that this land is the domain of the grizzly bears and coyotes. You had better be well equipped for camping here, and be sure to put all your food away in the proper places overnight.
But this backcountry camping, although alluring and exciting, is not for everyone. There’s plenty of opportunity to make use of the superb campsites that are found across Canada. With so much of Canada being pure wilderness, the possibilities for camping are endless. The northern Yukon and Quebec are hardly visited by anyone. Camping across Canada, whether using tents or mobile homes, represents the perfect chance to find solitude, excitement and a wilderness environment untouched by modernity.
